Marjet Zwaans seeks proximity with the materials and people she works with. Although abstraction, statistics and rationality were central while studying economics, Zwaans strives to reverse these approaches in her artistic practice. With attention to ambiguities, she attempts to be sensitive to a polyphony of perspectives instead of diminishing them to a generalized structure, to reconsider assumptions, and to engage with intimacy and nuances. Interdependency and responsivity reflect among all Zwaans’ works, which expand and merge with one another through contagious collaborations.
