Unfair collaborated with Kriterion to develop a special film program bringing some of our artists inspirations to you on the big screen. In this series, three Unfair™ artists present a film that is somehow connected to their creative process and the themes they address in their work. Hard To Be A God

In the first installment of this series, visual artist Kim David Bots chose to screen the 2013 Russian film Hard To Be A God: Aleksei German’s last film, based on the novel of the same name by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, in which a group of 30 scientists travel from Earth to a nearly-identical alien planet that is culturally and technologically centuries behind.

In the second installment of this series, artist Willem de Haan chose to screen the 2010 film Rubber: an absurdly comedic splasher-horror by musician and director Quentin Dupieux, better known as Mr. Oizo. This satirical film centers around a car tire that comes to life and kills people with its psychokinetic powers.
